Shane McAuliffe shares insights into public engagement at the British Pig and Poultry Fair 2026

The UK pork sector has a very positive story to tell, particularly in terms of welfare and sustainability. Data continues to show that retailers value British pork products, while pork consumption trends have been positive over the past 12 months. So, how does the industry, balance the need to defend what farmers do – and respond to some of the negative portrayals of our industry – while continuing to promote the many positives and highlight the many good stories around UK pig farming?

Shane McAuliffe was invited to take part in a panel discussion on this very topic at the recent British Pig and Poultry Fair at the NEC in Birmingham, where he shared insights into how farmers can tell their story.

He discussed the use of social media, engaging with schools and communities, business awards and much more.
