Mike

Born to a family of 7 in Knocknagoshel, Co.Kerry, Mike graduated from the Salesian Agricultural College in Pallaskenry in 1981 and worked in the family business in both the transport company and the farms. After his father Jack’s untimely death in 1992, Mike took over the running of the businesses and invested heavily in the early 2000’s to ensure the farms were of the highest standards anywhere in Ireland. He serves as director of various companies including Oceanworld Mara Beo Teoranta as well as being the CEO of Truly Irish Country Foods.

Shane

Shane holds a Masters in Pig Health and Production from the Royal Veterinary College of London and oversees pig health & welfare standards and research & development on the family farms. He has worked as a lecturer in Munster Technological University and Salesian Agricultural College Pallaskenry as well as guest lecturing in a number of other universities. Shane also works in consultancy and farm advisory and sits on a large number of various stakeholder groups, working groups and implementation groups related to livestock production.

An advocate for sustainable farming, Shane regularly shares insights through media and has been featured in national and international publications and numerous television programmes. In 2019 he was named an ‘EU Pig Ambassador’ for his communication work. His strong social media presence furthers his advocacy on sustainable pig production.

He currently serves as Chairperson of Bóthar, the Irish international NGO working in the Developing World.
