Having been recently appointed to the European Commission’s EU CAP Network’s focus group on Innovative On-Farm Energy Production Systems, Shane McAuliffe attended the group’s first in-person meeting. With some great break-out sessions on overcoming key adoption barriers, analysing governance models and assessing low risk scalable energy solutions, the group discussed the importance of clearer governance frameworks, risk-sharing & financing tools, stronger collaboration between farmers, advisors and industry and more local demonstration projects to build trust and show practical results. Shane has been appointed a co-ordinator of a paper and will be working on publishing this over the coming months with colleagues from France, Italy, Poland and Spain.
